​Melody's colourful childhood in Malaysia included hosting television shows, composing, doing charity work, dancing, and also playing the violin, guitar and organ.

Her talent was revealed at the age of two when she began playing the piano by ear, improvising and playing tunes she heard on the radio. She began piano lessons at age six with Snezana Panovska. She soon began performing, with her first international appearance in the Czech Republic and Hungary at age seven. Other highlights include performing at the opening of Malaysia's Bukit Jalil Stadium for the 1998 Commonwealth Games, and for the inception of the Chopin Society in Malaysia in 2002. At the age of seven and twelve, she was selected to perform her compositions at the Yamaha Junior Original Concert in Japan, and at the 100th anniversary of Utsunomiya City.​



Melody hosted several children's televison shows, namely, 'Cilik', 'Alam Ria', and 'Golden Kids News' on TV3. She also made guest appearances on Astro TV's 'Hingga Larut Malam' and 'The Very Moody Show' on 97.6 WoW FM. She won the 'Brand's Award for Exceptional Children' and the Grand Prize in the 'Human Values Song Festival' with her very own composition​.



Melody moved to Sydney, Australia at the age of fourteen, where she studied at the Australian Institute of Music. She won several competitions and awards such as the Zonta Young Performer Award, and also performed with the Ku-Ring-Gai and  Central Coast Symphony Orchestras.
